Farm Pilot's 2008 Technology Summit proved to be the most inspiring yet. As fuel prices and food costs continue to climb , the American consumer is seeking relief and growing more concerned about the environmental stakes. This year's Summit, "Pathways to Energy" was complete with enthusiastic engineers, technology experts, academics, and various government participants who are anxious to find solutions to the animal waste problems on farms. Many of FPPC's technologies are now focused on biofuels or the creation of energy byproducts from manure. These projects, along with others, were highlighted over the course of the day and a half conference. Those who participated were afforded the opportunity to network with key technology providers. At a hosted dinner at Tampa Bay Watch, participants were briefed on the environmental progress in the state's largest estuary.. Thank you to all the participants, speakers, and sponsors for making this year's Summit the best yet!

Cow manure dried in vacuum bed for minimal weight transportation, liquid used as fertilzer
White Technologies, Inc. and North Florida Holstein
  • FPPC has funded a vacuum dewatering project in Bell, Florida at North Florida Holstein dairy. This large facility is undergoing initial start up and commissioning.
  • Cow manure separated into solids, liquids and gas
Agricultural Waste Solutions & Inland Empire Utilities Agency
  • FPPC has worked with Agricultural Waste Solutions to test a gasification system on a municipal water site in Chino, California. This system is currently being evaluated against the anaerobic digester on site for efficiency comparison.
  •
Converting swine and cow manure into fuel and fertilizer
Phase 3 Development & Investment, LLC and the Geerlings Hillside Farm
  • This project is installed on a swine facility in Overisel, Michigan. FPPC is working with Phase 3 to measure performance of the integrated technologies and the anaerobic digester on site.
  • Poultry waste becomes revenue generating fertilizer
    R&J Partnership & Creekwood Farms
  • Creekwood Farms is a layer operation in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. R&J Partnership is working to test and develop in-vessel composting that will yield organic fertilizer from both poultry litter and mortalities.
  • Cow manure converted to energy and fed back to the grid
Skill Associates, Inc. & Wiese Brothers Dairy Farm
  • This is an energy project operated on a dairy facility in Green Leaf, Wisconsin. Skill Associates received funding from FPPC to evaluate and test the combustor system. This project produces grid connected electricity from dairy manure.
