Farm description/project location: Swine waste and poultry litter was collected in Duplin county; N.C. then transported to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, which is located in Kootenai county approx. 80 miles east of Spokane, WA. A central fluidized bed combustion facility utilizing gasification processed the litter into ash (used as a soil amendment), direct heat (used to dry waste) and steam (used for electricity generation). |
