Nutrient Reduction Process:
- Sand separation
- Combine dry scrape free stall barns-flushing into a stabilization pond
- Waste stream is pumped over a incline screen for initial solid separation
- Effluent is processed through the tangential flow separator with a chemical addition (ferric sulfate, lime, and polymer)
- Screw press / dewatering of coarse solids
- Nitrification / denitrification in second holding basin
- Solids are collected and composted; remaining liquid is used for irrigation.
